Students interested in a career where they work closely with other health care specialists in private homes, long- term care facilities, public schools or acute care wards should think of taking up Practical Nursing as a career. The comprehensive training program of 51 weeks from one of our featured colleges prepares you to work in medical, rehabilitation and surgical centres in the responsible position of Practical Nurse performing fundamental nursing duties. The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia lays out the standards on which the curriculum is based and the course work is a combination of both classroom and lab work. Both holistic and clinical procedures are learnt through a series of Nursing Arts courses. Three supervised practicum in acute care facility, gerontology wards and community medical care centers provide st students with enough practical experience and hands – on training. Students also participate in a preceptorship at the end of the third practicum. Job searching training helps students in the transition from student to graduate.
