Students learn the skills needed to work successfully in a modern pharmacy in the Pharmacy Assistant Program of 45 weeks. The basic skills learnt under this program are identifying prescriptions, filling orders under a pharmacist's supervision, processing paperwork for orders, entering client particulars, drug dosage calculations, compounding, pharmacy procedures and practices, computer systems commonly used in pharmacy as well as drug and medical terminology. Besides these, students are also taught about safety regulation in workplaces, legislations and ethics as applicable to pharmacies.

A field placement in a community pharmacy helps translate classroom learning into practice for the students who gain valuable hands – on experience. Graduates of this program are generally placed as pharmacy assistants.
