The program provides training which is of industry standard to help students enter the pharmacological and medical field. In the first phase of the program, students study medical office procedures where they learn to prepare and administer tests in basic medical office issues, answer preliminary questions of patients and learn medical terminology. The curriculum also focuses on customer service skills, prioritizing patient's requests for appointments, bookkeeping, administration, inventory and billing procedures. In the second phase, the curriculum teaches skills needed to support pharmacy assistants. Core curriculum includes pharmacy math, pharmacy billing, prescription transcription, protocols of a hospital pharmacy and responsibilities of a community pharmacy technician. At the end of each phase is a 5 week practicum, making it a total of 10 weeks of practical training in the field. This work experience is very valuable for a career as a medical transcriptionist, pharmacy technician, medical office assistant, admitting clerk or any other relevant position. A number of certificates and Diplomas like the Medical Office Assistant Diploma, Medical Pharmacy Assistant Diploma, Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR "C" Certificate are awarded on graduation.
