  • There may be other forms of financial aid available to you. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for specific government grants and bursaries. Additionally, you may be eligible to receive funding through a government-sponsored agency such as HRSDC or WorkSafe.

Certified Dental Assistants and Registered Dental Hygienists who are practicing and wish to expand their existing skills can enroll for the Expanded Training in Orthodontics. This training module of 50 hours duration is specially designed for this purpose with more training in Orthodontic treatments and procedures. Different categories of orthodontics are taught to students who also learn to identify and perform dental maintenance on equipment, accessories and instruments used in orthodontics. Knowledge of various orthodontic appliances and their use in treatment is learnt by the students. Besides these, they learn to organize and effectively perform various orthodontic duties, accurately document orthodontic procedures, file health histories, fit and remove various dental appliances and are ready for assessment.

On successful completion of the course, to have this designation added to the certificate, students must apply to the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia (CDSBC).

Note: Those who do not have prior dental certification can apply to the Intra Oral Dental Assistant program from one of our featured colleges to gain entry into the dentistry field.
