Montessori Teaching Certificate

Montessori Teaching Certificate program applies the early twentieth century principles of Dr. Maria Montessori and teaches students methods to provide meaningful experiences in a nurturing environment. Preparing a learning conducive environment in a multi- age classroom and assisting in the development of the child into a competent, caring and responsible person is the role of the teacher in this method.

The basic requirement is possession of an ECE certificate or diploma for enrolling in the Montessori Teaching Certificate program. As part of the program, students are required to complete observations outside of class time, which are, in turn, used to complete assignments. Major areas of training include the Montessori learning (Language, Cultural and Practical Life, Sensorial, Math,). The curriculum teaches students to develop purposeful activities for children and refine their observational skills to a superior level. After completion of their first Montessori course, students gain hands – on experience by working at childcare centres and Montessori preschools as teaching assistants through the modular format of the course.

There is great demand for students completing these programs both in national and international markets. Career opportunities abound in both profit and non-profit organizations like daycare centres, preschools with or without parent participation, nursery schools, integrated daycare centres and family service centres.
